Blended Intensive Programmes

Sim Fusion

The Erasmus+ BIP brings together nursing students and teachers to gain a deeper insight into nursing simulation and to understand its essential pedagogy.

Date: physical week (& virtual component, once the date has been fixed)

Virtual part: starting date yet to be determined (January 2027)

The on-site (physical) week will take place from 15/03 to 19/03/2027

The objective of the BIP is to broaden students’ knowledge and skills in nursing simulation pedagogy and to develop their competencies as simulation instructors.

Students work in small, international groups to explore simulation pedagogy, develop nursing simulation scenarios, and take on the role of simulation instructors. They collaboratively plan and complete nursing simulation sequences including briefing, simulation, and debriefing. During the physical exchange, the groups take turns acting as simulation trainers and facilitating their scenarios for the other participating groups, thus providing an opportunity to apply and further develop their pedagogical and facilitation skills in an interprofessional and international learning environment.

Online preparation:

The online phase will start out with an introductory lecture on nursing simulation pedagogy, followed by at least one international group meeting. During group work, the students will familiarise themselves with simulation-based learning, exchange ideas across countries and educational contexts, and begin developing their simulation scenarios.

Physical exchange:

During the physical exchange, the students will further develop and implement their simulation scenarios. Peer-to-peer teaching will be a key element of the programme: The members of each group will act as simulation trainers and facilitate their scenarios for the other participating groups. This will allow students to apply their knowledge and skills in practice while gaining experience in facilitating simulation-based learning including briefing, implementation, and debriefing.

Outcomes:

The students gain knowledge in simulation pedagogy.

The students create nursing simulation scenarios.

The students act as instructors.

Target group (Staff BIP or Student BIP):

This BIP is aimed at nursing students and teachers who are already working with or interested in nursing simulation.

ECTS:

Participants in this BIP will be awarded 3 ECTS credits.
